I am pretty sure I need to be better about this next year. With having my own business (Premier Designs! Ask me for a catalog! I have an awesome sale going on!!) and everything that comes with that, I really needed to do things like track miles, itemize tax deductions, and organize receipts. Like, the day I signed up. Now, I know that I should have done this in advance, and filed quarterly and blahblahblah…however, I hate dealing with this so I put it off to the last minute. Here’s my thinking: If I don’t think about it, it will do itself. LOL. No I am kidding, I didn’t really think that. But I should have really done it at least at the half.
Instead, I am doing it now. Tonight I am starting. I promise myself this. I will at LEAST get through my receipts tonight and figure out what is worth trying to claim (hotels) and what is worth letting go ($2.00 at the post office). I would like to get the whole shebang done by the end of the month, so we can get our refund and start finalizing plans for the amazing bathroom renovation (i.e. getting the bathroom into modern times and not having a push-button toilet and hideous shower). We also have to save up for a new roof and gutters (because everything in our home was set to self-destruct in 5 years, and that mark is a-coming). Oh and then tearing up the basement to rewaterproof that, put in a new floor and ceiling, and consider putting at least a half-bath down there…because we OBVIOUSLY have an endless supply of funds coming in by the boat load. No, no. That isn’t happening. lol. But we can plan on doing things in increments, as we can afford it. And before we sell…lol. Which will happen…hopefully before Caelan starts middle school. 🙂 lol (I want my lakehouse people, do not burst my bubble).
I do not like math. Therefore, I do not like figuring out math related issues. So, I am pouring myself a glass of wine, turning on Daria and getting these receipts in order…
Because nothing makes taxes easy to deal with like sangria and sarcasm. 🙂
